paper mache model created by 3rd grade student

CoTA’s teaching artist, Carmela Castrejón, and third grade teacher Lisa Lord are collaborating in their use of arts integration techniques to teach science at Wegeforth Elementary. Together they empower students to develop independence, fine motor skills, listening skills, and critical thinking. Students explore sculpting materials such as clay, foil, and paper mache, basing their work products on life science standards. With a keen eye for scale, proportion, and detail, students discover their creative capacity as they grow in their understanding of the natural world. This is just one shining example of the Collaborations program’s incredible impact.
