Students create murals inspired by the question, “How can we help take care of the earth?” Students embark on a study of the environment. They consider the current state of the environment, predict what the environment will be like in the future if we continue living the way we do today, and analyze how humans can positively affect the future of the environment by changing their behaviors now. As researchers, students raise pertinent questions, define problems, and seek solutions. As designers, they select relevant content, craft potent imagery, and communicate specific ideas. As muralists, they convey a powerful public message through painting. As docents and teachers, they present their murals to an audience of their peers, parents, and administrators. As activists, they strive to convince others to take action or change their behavior through their artwork, presentations, and writing.
