Fifth-grade students explore the American Revolution by creating visual art books. Specifically focusing on the events that caused the revolution, students create book pages that artistically depict themes, events, and discussions leading up to the war. Students engage in a variety of visual arts activities in the process, learning collage, design layout, folding, and other bookmaking techniques, in addition to research and writing in different styles. Finally, students present their work to fifth-grade peers.
