Albert R. Songalia, Teaching Artist (University of California San Diego, BA Visual Arts)

With CoTA since 2014

A lifelong passionate geek as well as being young-at-heART, Albert Songalia channels his many interests and passions into his creative pursuits and often incorporates elements of play and storytelling into his art. Though mainly a visual artist specializing in drawing and illustration, Albert likes to explore and experiment with different art forms, media, and styles, building and expanding on his capacity for self-expression and adding more dimensions and layers to his work.

As a teaching artist, the same interests and passions also serve as sources of inspiration for many of Albert’s activities and projects in his collaborations, and inform his approach and process. Albert has also been a teaching artist at the New Children’s Museum (NCM) in downtown San Diego where he gained greater appreciation for the value of play and its role in learning. He was also a former mentor, muralist, and program coordinator for A Reason To Survive (ARTS), a youth and community oriented arts organization in National City.
